Italian court sentences man to 12 years in jail for shooting Nigerian and 5 other African migrants in racially motivated attack

An Italian court last week sentenced a 29-year-old boy to 12 years in prison to shoot six African immigrants during a raid in the center of Macerata.



Luca Traini went to the polygon on February 3, saying that he had taken revenge for the death of an Italian girl reportedly killed and wounded a few days ago by a Nigerian.

Traini turned to the black immigrants as he drove to Macerata and fought with citizens of Ghana, Mali and Nigeria. He later left his car and gave a fascist salute, an Italian flag that killed his shoulders when the police arrested him.



Nobody died in the attack and Traini apologized for his actions.



"I'm sorry for the injuries I caused," he said. "In prison, I realized that the color of your skin has nothing to do with anything."



Traini began his attack three days after discovering the body of the adolescent Pamela Mastropietro near Macerata.



An innocent Nigerian, Oseghalese, was charged with drug trafficking for rape, murder and ill-treatment. Read the previous report here



Oseghale says Mastropietro has died of overdose and denies killing her.



"I wanted justice for Pamela," Traini told the court.
