Benek spoke during a visit to the governor and his deputy, Philip Chibu, to thank them for their support for re-election, according to a statement released Monday.
The Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, currently undergoing rehabilitation, said the Eagles team could be hosted in April 2019 if the contractor managing the project will do a good job.
He said: "Football is an integral part of the economy in Europe, with huge revenues from which the state Edo is heading in this way that the government runs this sport in the state ..
"I am very grateful to Governor Obasi who played an important role and gave me the support that led to my appearance as the winner of Kastina's state elections.
Obasi said that his government would do everything possible to make the country remember its pride in sport, as in the abandoned state of Pendel.
Congratulating him on his re-election and praising his leadership style, the governor confirmed that the stadium would be ready in January.
Meanwhile, Obaseki appointed Godwin Orume as interim president of the Edo State Sports Committee until parliament was ratified.
