It happened after it was reported that political hooligans invaded the APC secretariat, were transported through election materials and also destroyed a police car.
It is said that some parts of the capital Uyo were taken by the bad guys, many of whom are suspected of working for one of the party seekers.

The Governor's Primaries for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state of Akwa Ibom ended in a deadlock. The party had agreed on a single primary format to select its flag carrier to represent the party in next year's gubernatorial elections.
According to reports, party leaders at the state party secretariat gathered along Ikot Ekpene Street to make offers and last minute material.
There is a dispute between President Mohammad Buhari's senior Specialist on National Affairs Affairs Senator Ita Enang and former Secretary of State for FCT Senator John Akpan Udoedeghe, who provoked a strike.
Witnesses said Senator Udoedeghe Ita Enang grabbed his shirt and hit his right cheek before trying to kick his thigh. Enang, however, was calm as a party leader in the exchange.
Udoedehe, a candidate, accused Enang of being linked to Senator Akpabio and NDDC director Nsima Ekere to divert material for distribution to district centers, instead of showing counterfeit material.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that around 15:00 shots were shot in elementary school, Afafa Offot, Uyo and armed men. At least two people were found dead after hearing close to the APC secretariat along Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo.
